North Carolina is on our 2027 expansion map. The legal landscape here requires more groundwork than our 2026 launch states — we’re doing that work carefully so we get it right the first time.

2027 Launch
North Carolina applies a multi-factor economic reality test. Our model satisfies the test, but the state requires careful legal setup and proper independent contractor agreements before launch. We're targeting 2027.
YoZombie workers choose every gig they accept. They set their own availability. They use their own tools. They work for multiple clients. That’s the definition of an independent contractor — and it holds up under North Carolina’s framework. We just need to properly document it.

North Carolina businesses will post a gig through the YoZombie app — set the task, rate, and time. Nearby independent gig workers see it in real time and choose to accept. The business pays a flat fee of $12–$25 per gig slot. No payroll. No agency markup. No long-term commitments. Payment is initiated when the work is confirmed complete — the worker scans the checkout QR code, or the business taps Confirm Completion; checking in only records the worker’s arrival.
Gig workers in North Carolina will keep 100% of the posted gig rate when YoZombie launches there. YoZombie takes zero commission from worker pay — ever. Workers are paid via Stripe Connect on Stripe’s standard payout schedule after completing a gig.
North Carolina uses a worker classification framework that requires more legal documentation and setup than our 2026 easy states. Our independent contractor model is sound here — workers genuinely control their own schedule and tools — but we're taking the time to properly validate and document everything before launch. Getting it right is more important than getting there fast.
